Lieutenant Otto E. Dobratz, age 56, a 25 year veteran responded to Hallmere Reservoir on the report of a shooting. Lieutenant Dobratz arrived on scene and he collapsed while conducting the investigation and died.

On July 26, 1953 Meriden Police Lieutenant Otto E. Dobratz, age 56, responded to Hallmere Reservoir on the report of a fatal shooting. While on scene and conducting the investigation he suddenly collapsed and died.

Lieutenant Dorbratz was a U.S. Army veteran of WW1 and the recipient of the Purple Heart. He had served with the Meriden Police Department for 25 years.
